Google Chrome Extensions And Tweaks

Chrome Tweaks

Let’s face it, there are some very good web browsers on the market today; Microsoft’s IE, Apple’s Safari and Google’s offering; Google Chrome.  Chrome is rapidly becoming one of the most widely used browsers across the globe and for good reason.

One of the cool things that make Google Chrome the most loved browser all over the place, is the extensive variety of things that users can add to the browser to augment efficiency as well as effectiveness of browsing the Internet. There are approximately thousands of extensions and Google applications that may be installed easily for absolutely no cost whatsoever. Personally, I use a Chrome and Safari and find both to be awesome browsers. I’d like to share a few tweaks that you can do to your browser so that you will make Internet browsing more suitable to fit your needs and requirements.

Lights Out At The Movies
If you love watching content on your pc/laptop through your browser then Turn Off The Lights is a great extension to have. The entire page will be fading to dark, so you can watch the video as if you were sat in the local cinema.  Just one click on the lamp button, the page will be fading to dark. And then automatic focus is to the video. If you click again, the page will return back as normal!

Pocket Saves Files For Later
Pocket is a Google extension that will allow you to save links to articles, photos and videos, which you see today and want to continue reading or watching later.  With Pocket installed, you can easily click on the extension icon and have access to the files that you saved at an earlier point in time.

Change Your Browser Theme
Chrome has many great and free themes ready for you to install. If you do not want to have the classic Chrome look, then you can browse from among the multitude of themes categories on the Google Chrome Web Store. When you have found one that you love, simply click install and watch it transform the appearance of your browser.

Budding Writer? Then You Need To Install Writebox
Writebox is a perfect application for anyone who loves to write. It is a simple, clean and easy to use application that allows you to type and create documents on your web browser. There is also a sync feature, which allows you to save your document in your cloud storage facility or saved directly on to your computer.

Appbucket Founders Convicted

Android Pirates Convicted

The leader of a piracy group and a co-conspirator, that was engaged in the illegal distribution of copies of copyrighted Android apps have pleaded guilty for their roles in the plot that distributed more than a million copies of copyrighted apps.  The total retail value of these apps was over $700,000.

Nicholas Anthony Narbone, 26, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit criminal copyright infringement and Thomas Allen Dye, 21, pleaded guilty to the same change.  Sentencing is scheduled for July 8, 2014, and June 12, 2014, respectively.

The announcement was made by Acting Assistant Attorney General David A. O’Neil of the Department of Justice’s Criminal Division, U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates of the Northern District of Georgia and Special Agent in Charge J. Britt Johnson of the FBI’s Atlanta Field Office.
Acting Assistant Attorney General O’Neil said, “These mark the first convictions secured by the Justice Department against those who illegally distribute counterfeit mobile apps…These men trampled on the intellectual property rights of others when they and other members of the Appbucket group distributed more than one million copies of pirated apps.  The Criminal Division has made fighting intellectual property crime a top priority, and these convictions demonstrate our determination to prosecute those who undermine the innovations of others in new technologies.”
U.S. Attorney Yates said, “Copyright infringement discourages smart, innovative people from using their talents to create things that the rest of society can use and enjoy…Theft is theft, whether the property taken is intellectual or tangible – and we will continue to prosecute those who steal copyrighted material…The wholesale theft of intellectual property as seen in this case cannot and will not go unaddressed,” said FBI SAC Johnson.  “The FBI will continue to work with its various law enforcement partners in identifying, investigating and presenting for prosecution those individuals and groups engaged in such criminal activities that involve the attempt to profit from the hard work and the developed creative ideas of others.”

Narbone, Dye and others were charged with one count of conspiracy to commit criminal copyright infringement.  According to the information received, Narbone and Dye identified themselves as the Appbucket group, with Narbone as the leader and from August 2010 to August 2012, they conspired with other members of the Appbucket group to replicate and dispense more than one million copies of copyrighted Android mobile device apps through the Appbucket alternative online market.  They did this without permission from the copyright owners of the applications.

Exclusive Interview with Reshma (prathigatana)

This talented actress is once again back with her latest film Pratighatana. Reshma plays an important character in this film, which has Charmee in the lead role. We caught up with Reshma for an exclusive interview, and let’s see what she has to say.

Firstly, Ugadi wishes to you. How special is Ugadi to you ?
Oh ! I love this festival, as I have a sentiment connected to it. Both my first two films have released during Ugadi, and now Pratighatana is releasing post Ygadi, so I am equally excited.

Any reason for postponing this film from April 5th to 18th
As many big budget films were releasing during this time, we did not get enough screens to release our film. Left with no choice, we had to move our release to April 18th.

Tell us something about the film?
Our film is based on a real life story, which is close to the Nirbhaya incident. There is a social message in our film, which will make everyone sit right up and support the women power.

Can you elaborate about your role in the film ?
I play a innocent college going village girl, who fights for the injustice done against her friend. This is a complete performance oriented role, which I took as a challenge and did it to the best of my abilities.

How was it working with Tammareddy Bhardwaj?
Oh ! it was a wonderful experience working with a veteran director like him. The way he has dealt with this subject is incredible, and I have personally learnt so much from him during the filming of Pratignatana.

Share your working experience with Charmee ?
It was such an amazing experience working with a star like Charmee. I treat her like an elder sister, and she helped me so much during the making of this film.

You have always been associated as an bubbly actress. Any special reason in accepting a serious role like this?
This was a such a good opportunity for me to showcase my acting skills. As I have done romantic roles in the past, I took it as a challenge to portray a tough role like this.

Any last words regarding your film.
Those who think Pratighatana is a serious film will be mistaken. Our film has enough dose of entertainment, with a social message nicely interlaced in it.

Gionee Elife S5.5 vs Micromax Canvas Knight A350 vs WickedLeak Wammy Passion X

Earlier today, Gionee launched the world’s slimmest smartphone, the Elife S5.5, in India for Rs 22,999. At this price tag and with an octa-core processor inside, comparisons are being made against the likes of the Micromax Canvas Knight A350 and the WickedLeak Wammy Passion X. Let’s see how these smartphones fare when pitted against each other.

DESIGN
In terms of design, the three smartphones are built well, but with the “world’s slimmest smartphone” tag and an all metal chassis, the Elife S5.5 wins this round hands down.

DISPLAY
All the three smartphones boast 5-inch full HD (1080p) displays with nearly the same pixel count too. So we would call this round a tie.

HARDWARE
The octa-core powered smartphones are only differentiated by the clock speeds with Micromax’s Canvas Knight leading the pack with a clock speed of 2GHz. The other two smartphones have a processor clocked at 1.7GHz, but this difference is something you won’t notice in daily use. As far as RAM is concerned, the three feature 2GB of RAM.
In terms of storage space, the Micromax Canvas Knight A350 has 32GB of internal storage, which is double the memory on other two smartphones. However, the Wammy Passion X races ahead because of the option to expand the 16GB internal storage using a microSD card.

CAMERAS
The Canvas Knight A350 leads this round with a 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front snapper, compared to a 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel cameras on the other two. Gionee’s smartphones though are known for their good cameras and the Elife S5.5 should be no different. In fact, the Wammy Passion X also features an OmniVision CameraChip sensor and M8 Largan Lens, which is the same camera module found on the Gionee Elife E7.

SOFTWARE AND BATTERY
All three smartphones run on Android Jelly Bean so there is little to differentiate between them. With batteries bigger than 2,000mAh, the three devices will survive the day on a single charge. On paper though, the Wammy Passion X’s 2,500mAh battery is the biggest among the three.

EXTRAS
The Wammy Passion X is the only device among the three to boast water repellent capabilities. WickedLeak has used a nano coating on the inside as well as outside, which in the words of the company, makes it “Super Hydrophobic.” This protection allows the device to survive for 30 minutes under any kind of liquid without damaging the device.
In conclusion, all three devices are almost evenly identical, yet couldn’t be more different. The Canvas Knight A350 is the cheapest of the lot, while the Wammy Passion X with its water repellant capabilities offers the most for its price tag. The Elife S5.5, on the other hand, gives you the specs along with being the best looking device of the trio and the tag of the “world’s slimmest smartphone,” is like an icing on the cake. These comparisons however have been made on the basis of the specs, and we will give you a better opinion on the performance front in our detailed reviews of these phones.

In a recent interview, when he was asked what motivated him to change his perspective on life, Nani recounted his near death experience which happened few years ago. “I was going on a long drive with my friends and all of a sudden, we met with an accident. After an ambulance came to our rescue, we saw another accident which left several innocent people injured and some of them had died on the spot. I saw the pain and agony which all of them were going through and at that moment, everything else seemed too small for me. We take a lot of things quite seriously in life, but truth is, we are just wasting out time and energy on them,” Nani revealed.

sam's satire on Kajal and Tamanna

Is Samantha planning to land in Hindi cinema after conquering Tamilnadu? Samantha said a firm No and made it clear that she doesn’t have any plans to do Hindi films. ‘I belong here. I am happy doing films in South. I will continue to do Telugu and Tamil films as long as I act,’ said Samantha.

When Tamanna and Kajal are happily balancing between Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films, why can’t Sam give it a try? ‘See, they are from North. They have succeeded here and are trying to prove themselves in their mother tongue. But I am from here. I don’t need to do Hindi films. I am at home,’ Sam said in a sarcastic tone.

This app just made it super-easy for Android users to keep their passwords secure

As we’ve mentioned in the past, passwords are an enormous pain, especially since keeping them secure these days often means switching them up every couple of months and making them so complex that they’re all but impossible to remember. However, ZDNet directs our attention to a recently released update from password management app LastPass that has just made it much easier for Android users to safely keep all their passwords secure across multiple different applications.

LastPass announced this week that its Android app now has the ability to autofill logins for users’ mobile apps and any webpages accessed through Android’s Chrome mobile browser. LastPass says this capability “brings the same LastPass experience you’re used to on the desktop to all of your mobile apps and Chrome” by being able to “detect that a username and password field are shown, and hover with a prompt for you to select a matching login.”

LastPass essentially generates secure passwords for you and stores them in a vault that it lets you access on multiple devices and platforms. So if you’ve stored your Netflix password in the vault through your PC, you should be able to get LastPass to enter it into your smartphone when you first install the Netflix mobile app. LastPass now has the ability to detect which mobile apps are associated with websites whose passwords you’ve stored in the vault, which means that you won’t have to search around for your password on every new app you’re trying to log into.

You’ll need a device that runs Android 4.1 or higher for LastPass to be compatible with your apps and you’ll need a device that runs Android 4.3 or higher for LastPass to be compatible with Chrome. You’ll also need to subscribe to LastPass’s premium service to take advantage of these new features, although it only costs $12 a year.

Google is tracking some employees for 100 years just to monitor their happiness

Inspired by the Framingham Heart Study started 65 years ago in Massachusetts with more than 5,000 people, Google has started its own gDNA study, a “major long-term study aimed at understanding work,” a very important element of life.

The company has already randomly selected over 4,000 employees in its study, although participation is optional and confidential according to the exec. Each person completes two in-depth surveys each year, which cover “traits that are static, like personality; characteristics that change, like attitudes about culture, work projects, and co-workers; and how Googlers fit into the web of relationships around all of us.” Google then looks at “how all these factors interact, as well as with biographical characteristics like tenure, role and performance.”

In the two years since gDNA began, the company learned that two out of three Google employees still think of work when at home, while only 31% of them are able to disconnect work life and home life. The company has also learned that half of the former group would prefer to leave work behind when they leave the office instead of obsessing about it after hours.

To remedy this, Google ran an experiment for its Irish employees called “Dublin Goes Dark” to see whether it could help them disconnect from work. The program asked employees to drop their work-related mobile devices at the front desk before going home.

“Googlers reported blissful, stressless evenings,” Brock wrote of the experiment’s results. “Similarly, nudging [employees] to ignore off-hour emails and use all their vacation days might improve well-being over time. The long-term nature of these questions suggests that the real value of gDNA will take years to realize.”

Considering the huge amount of personal data from customers that Google successfully juggles with to make money each quarter, a program that looks into how work affects life seems to be a perfect fit for a company that’s more than used to analyzing data.

The rift with Oculus Rift revealed - why Facebook needs a reality check

The "good" and "evil" sides of the tech world clashed this week, with the clean-shaven, youthful and extremely popular makers of the Oculus Rift VR headset agreeing to be purchased by the evil, goatee-bearded, dark forces of the hated Facebook mega-empire.
Many toys were thrown out of prams and as we see every week, there's always one joke everyone furiously types out and thinks they're the first with.
This week, it was something along the lines of "FarmVille in 3D! LOL!" that everyone raced to wryly observe first. Plus the fact that legendary PC coder and unmitigated brainbox John Carmack is now a humble Facebook employee caused many simple people some low levels of mirth.
These jokes were even funnier when they were repeated the next day, becoming funnier still by the third day.
But mostly there was anger. Anger about Kickstarter being used to kickstart a $2bn business, anger at Facebook chucking its money around again and anger that the promising VR tech may eventually be used as little more than a new way to get your mum to click on adverts for discounted last-minute cruises around the Norwegian fjords.

Worst thing ever, for the next 18 hours at least

Those writing beneath a Valleywag piece suggested Facebook was the "worst possible partner" for the VR firm, fury was vented by those who saw Oculus using Kickstarter as a method of not only building a project, but building a company worth $2bn in a couple of years.
This was accurately nutshelled by commenter I'm Here Mostly for the Chicks, who said: "At this point it's safe to assume Kickstarter in its entirety is for suckers. Maybe the first few months it was a good outlet for homebrew ideas, but all you're doing now is subsidising corporations so they don't have to take risks."
Reader Greensky was a little more generous about his criticism of the deal, suggesting: "Kickstarter has led people to believe that they're investing in an independent company. That their contributions are vital in allowing them to get off the ground and to forge their own way. Oculus proves that there can also be Kickstarters whose sole goal is to become popular enough to sell. Which isn't wrong per se, but it's also not the nice heart-warming underdog story that most Kickstarters use to get more backers."

Imagine a screen strapped to a human face - forever

On a more aggressively negative vibe was Economist reader Guest Sensation, who said: "The very last thing humanity needs is a life sucking screen strapped to its face. What a shame people are embracing this technological 'advancement'. Bye bye family time, hello 3D porn, virtual worlds to waste your life in, and mass media control. Disgusting."
There's 3D porn? *Writes cheque for $2.5bn, phones bank to arrange overdraft facility*
This is all a sign that Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg has gone bonkers and is currently on a cash-fuelled spree he'll eventually come to regret, according to Pondbridge72, who raged: "Paying twice the market price for Instagram and then WhatsApp was one thing. But this latest digression into geek hardware while alienating the very gamers necessary for Oculus to succeed is ham-fisted at best. Florid 5 and 10 year visions disguise an I-know-better-than-the-market intellectual arrogance and inability/unwillingness to take counsel from others."
Just looked up what "florid" means. It's a real word. It means "excessively intricate or elaborate." Nice one, Pondbridge, teaching people about online fury and English at the same time.
STR agreed and was baffled by the decision, eventually concluding: "This is a case study in why no investor should trust their money with a company who has a 29 year old with sole majority control."

Billions of ideas

But not everyone's entirely negative about the sale. $2bn is a lot of money, and Register reader Stu is fantasising about how it might be spent by the newly loaded Oculus team, dreaming: "Well I've pre-ordered DK2, and am thinking of cancelling, but I'm coming to realise that Facebook have injected a serious cash flow into Oculus, hence would have a lot more clout in the HW market to demand the screens and other tech they want - specifically it would benefit from curved OLED, ultra resolution, very low latency, and very low persistence."
Stu then suggests creating a throwaway Facebook profile to use solely for Oculus (and perhaps Tinder at the weekends), although he adds: "Adverts, well if that happens then I'm out!"

2,000,000,000 dislikes

Beneath a Guardian piece entirely structured around how bad an idea it all seems, comment turned to whether or not Kickstarter backers ought to get a cut of the $2bn, seeing as they are, in some small way, the original venture capitalists that set Oculus on its way to financial stardom.
Reader Unpleasantmilk contributed the observation that: "People put money into it, to help the company build. Now that company has been sold for billions, why shouldn't those who helped make it so, profit? This leaves a bad taste, but that is no surprise if *uckerburg is involved."
And ChrisKS wasn't happy with Oculus either, raging: "Oculus did exactly the opposite of what Kickstarter is used for, and didn't actually do what their stated aims were. Look at their Kickstarter campaign and you'll see that the support was generated by promises of open-sourcing and prototypes being built to facilitate/accelerate games development."
"It was NOT supposed to be their engine for personal enrichment, but that's what they used all that money for," he finished with, probably hitting the keyboard really hard and with a satisfied flourish on that final full stop.
Finally, Facebook's flaw of letting the most thumbed-up comments float up to the top of response threads meant Zuckerberg's own announcement of the Oculus deal was instantly hammered by negativity, with Dave Woodruff rising to internet fame with his 1,000+ liked satirical comment: "I'm excited to announce we can't innovate but we can buy other companies."

Pawan Kalyan lost money??!!

We heard gossips about PVP Cinemas Potluri Vara Prasad funding Pawan’s Janasena party. As per grapevine, PVP expected MP ticket with the help of Pawan Kalyan. But power star decided not to field anyone in this elections. He is aiming for next elections and is currently focused on building the party.

But it is true that PVP has funded Janasena until now. He was the one who spent money for conducting two meetings of Jana Sena so far. As per sources Pawan Kalyan will be paying back the money to Potluri by doing a film in his production very soon. So Pawan Kalyan may not get much in return for doing the movie as PVP has spent so many crores already.

Pawan Kalyan has sold few assets for founding Jana Sena and is using every penny from his pocket. He is not taking funds from anyone and has rejected many offers too. He ‘lost’ more than Rs. 30 crores till now says the buzz. But Pawan believes that he is investing this money for a better cause. Well, if all this was true, we have to salute to the dedication of Power Star!

Madras High Court issues notice to Tamil Nadu government on Nokia petition

The Madras High Court today issued a notice to the Tamil Nadu government on a petition filed by handset major Nokia, challenging the state government’s notice slapping Rs 2,400 crore tax dues on it.

When the matter came up before Justice B Rajendran, state Advocate General A L Somayaji opposed granting any interim order to the petitioner.

The Advocate General submitted that under Section 27(4) of the VAT, there was no need to issue prior notice to the company, an issue being raised by the petitioner.

Justice Rajendran ordered notice and adjourned the hearing to April one.

The state government had issued a Rs 2,400 crore notice to Nokia saying the company had been selling the products produced from Chennai plant to the domestic market, instead of shipping them overseas.

Nokia management had responded to the notice, saying that it was a “baseless” claim by the Sale Tax Department.

Indian government made 2,513 requests for user information to Google in the second half of 2013

Google has released the transparency report for the second half of 2013. The report, as we know, throws light on the volume of data requests made by governments around the world. According to the report, although there has been an increase in the number worldwide, the number of requests made by the Indian government saw a decline.

India made a total of 2,513 user data requests between July and December 2013, which in comparison to the requests made in January-June 2013 (2,691) registered a drop of about 7 percent.
The user/accounts, which is the number of multiple requests made for a user saw an increase of about 6 percent, rising from 4,161 from January-June 2013 to 4,401 in July-December 2013.

Also, there was an increase in the percentage of requests processed by Google; from 64 percent in the first half of 2013 to 66 percent in the second half.

Among top-10 prominent countries whose governments ask Google for snooping data, India ranks fourth in terms of total requests made. For User/Accounts, India ranks second. And for the number of requests processed by Google, India maintains a fourth position. The leader of the pack is, as you can guess, USA.

Facebook is building drones armed to the teeth with the internet

While everyone's distracted by looking through virtual reality goggles like Oculus Rift, Facebook is preparing to fly drones overhead to beam the internet to new places.
This airborne Internet.org mission is being carried out by the Facebook Connectivity Lab, which has been tasked with building drones, satellites and lasers.
Its goal is to deliver "affordable access to basic internet services available to every person in the world," wrote Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg in a status update.
There's certainly a need. Less than three billion people are able to access the internet among a population of 7.1 billion.
Penetration is low in developing countries without infrastructure and government censorship often stymies free and open access. Turkey is just the latest case this month.

Conventional methods aren't enough

Facebook and Internet.org have been able to connect more than three million new people to the internet in the past year through conventional methods.
Countries like the Philippines and Paraguay have seen double the number of mobile data users thanks to the Internet.org's partnerships with operators, reported Zuckerberg.
That's a start, but beaming the internet to the entire world requires inventing new technology and experts.
That's why Facebook is bringing experts from NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab and Ames Research Center onboard as well as key members of the UK-based Ascenta to its Connectivity Lab.
Ascenta is known for being involved in its early stages Zephyr, a UAV technology that went on to become the world's longest flying solar-powered unmanned aircraft.
This fits right into the scope of Internet.org's plains, which call for internet delivery at 60,000 feet in the air with planes that are powered by the sun.

Pawan kalyan- A confused Man??

Why we call this TFI’s box office ruler a confused man? Every thing this man does gets enormous hype right away and he does not take much time to bring it down. It all started with a hand written press note that says Pawan will directly address media about his political interests. Later, wanted press meet ended up being a huge gathering of his party launch at Hitex amidst huge fan fare. Pawan didn’t let any one down with his high spirits but he left several questions unanswered which made us wait for his next speech curiously.

Before his second public event in Vizag, he traveled all the way to Ahmadabad and met Modi. As every one expected he pronounced his full support to Modi after his 30 minutes meeting. This sort of sent feelers to every one that he has become very serious about vote bank politics and his role in elections coming up shortly.
Here comes the big event in Vizag. Huge crowds turned out for the event to directly listen from Pawan on which direction they should walk in to cast their vote in next elections which is fast approaching. Pawan addressed the huge gathering with his usual attack on Congress party and how they played the foul game on bifurcation and announced his full support to Modi one more time. Here comes a huge shock, he clarifies that JSP will not be contesting in next elections because he is still looking for the right individuals which again made most people think that this man again made a decision in rush. Majority who watched Pawan’s speech felt confused with take home bullets from him. Few below.

1. Entire Congress crew is looking like pigs for Pawan but not his very own brother. Surprisingly he revealed, he had trust on Congress when his brother wanted to merge PRP, that is the reason he kept quiet about the merger.

2. If the entire JSP’s hullabaloo is all about motivating people to cast their vote against Congress..Where is the need for it? It is an open fact that Congress will not get deposits this time. Why does he need to form Jana Sena right before elections?

3. Support to Modi: What is the need to motivate youth to extend their support to Modi, when most of them are already chanting Namo mantra. And he doesn’t specify his terms about his local support but only supports Modi at central which does not give any direction to his supporters in Telangana or AP.

4. Last but not the least when says his single line agenda is against corruption, why he takes indirect reference on Jagan? He why could’t he talk about the corruption accusations on Jagan openly?

Now that Pawan clarified, JSP won’t contest in next elections he will be completely out of the radar in pivotal time of forming governments in newly formed states before and after elections. Also to his motto not for Power yet to Quesion, for him to question the newly formed governments he needs to sit tight for at-least an year or longer to find an opportunity to question them. What role will he play till then? Will he say pack up and go back to make up like Kavitha said?

Ram charann Next Megastar

Back in 2007 when ‘ Chirutha’ was released, audiences were eager to judge the son of Mega star Chiranjeevi. Amidst humonguous expectations and numerous comparisions with his father, Ram Charan debuted and delivered a commendable performance which is much needed to own him by those who love his Dad. But, immediately with his 2nd film, ‘Magadheera’ which turned out to be an unmatchable success at the Box-office Ram Chran promoted himself from being a Son of Megastar to Heir of Megastar. ‘Magadheera’ for Ram Charan did what ‘Khaidi’ has done for Chiranjeevi. Its success not only gave him the much needed break in his career but also brought him closer to a section of audience who will decide the fate of any big film, Masses.

Charan has faced his first failure in his career with ‘Orange’. In fact Charan tried to get closer to other sections by choosing a role which is best suited to his age, but it didn’t worked at the Box-office. Then by returning to his stronghold area where majority of audience liked him, he delivered consecutive Super hits in the form of Racha and Naayak. Here comes another hitch in his career with ‘Thoofaan’. Though we can’t complain about this film in Telugu as it was meant to be catered for bollywood audience and even in bollywood his first attempt ended in vain. But, Charan bounced back quickly by doing what he does best and delivered another super hit, ‘Yevadu’. Ram Charan has always made proper use of huge fan base he got from his father which helped him to deliver Hits even with an average content.

Back in late 80’s-90’s, Chiranjeevi gave continuous hits by doing films best suited him. Producers, Buyers had confidence in him that even his average film will earn profits for them. This consistency made Chiranjeevi a ‘Mega Star’ and helped him to enjoy the Top place in the industry. May be this is too early to compare Ram Charan who is only 7 films old with Chiranjeevi. But, Yes having Three 45+Cr Films, one 70+ Cr film under his belt and being only hero who has four films in Top 10 highest grosser at the Box-Office, Ram Charan is surely on his way to occupy the Throne of ‘Mega Star’ left by Chiranjeevi, his father.

This amazing interactive 6GB photo of our galaxy took NASA 10 years to capture

The photo you see above is one minuscule portion of a staggeringly massive infrared panoramic photo captured by NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope that manages to squeeze the entire Milky Way galaxy into a single photograph. That single photograph, mind you, is a 6GB file.

The Spitzer Space Telescope took 10 years to capture all of the imagery that went into building the incredible image. And the best part about this massive panorama is that NASA broke it into pieces that can be seen in a series of interactive viewers on the Spitzer website.

If you really want to get crazy, you can also download the RAW files that can be combined to make up the entire Milky Way galaxy.

The main photograph is broken up into eight sections on NASA’s Spitzer website, and each section is 67,500 pixels across. As Smithsonian.com noted, a print of the full image would be about 150 feet wide.

So what, exactly, is included in this massive 6-gigabyte photograph? Only about 300 billion stars — many of which are 13.2 billion years old — that occupy a galaxy roughly 100,000 light-years in diameter.

Microsoft Office for iPad could launch today

Satya Nadella will take the stage today as Microsoft’s CEO for the first time at a press conference in San Francisco in about an hour from now. The event which is “focused on the intersection of cloud and mobile computing,” according to the invite, is likely to see Nadella announcing the availability of Microsoft Office on Apple’s iPad.

The iPad was first launched in 2010 and for four years Microsoft has stayed away from launching one of its most popular product. Office has been the world’s most used word processing, presentation and spreadsheet suite of applications and the Redmond, Washington based software giant tried to use it as a differentiating factor between the iPad and other tablets running on Windows operating system including Microsoft’s own Surface tablet.

However, that strategy has not paid off and the iPad still remains to be the most sold tablet in the world, selling 26 million units in the last quarter of 2014 alone. The absence of Microsoft Office on the iPad has worked in the favor of its rivals, most notably Apple’s own iWork, which it has started bundling for free on new iOS devices. At a time when even Mac users preferred using Microsoft Office over iWork, the lack of Office for iOS meant that many users shifted to iWork to keep files synced between their Macs, iPads and iPhones.

If Nadella announces Microsoft Office for iPad tonight, which he is most likely to do, it would mark a big shift from Steve Ballmer’s era. It would show that Nadella is willing to accept Microsoft’s present shortcomings and is able to make the most out of the opportunities that Microsoft’s rivals provide.

Microsoft’s Office 365 is already available under a monthly or annual subscription plan that can be used on five PCs or Macs and “select mobile devices” and we expect the iPad to come under those select devices. Microsoft currently charges Rs 420 a month or Rs 4,199 a year as subscription fee.

What's the point of Twitter if it's just like Facebook?

At the end of Animal Farm - spoiler alert if you've been asleep since the 1940s - the creatures looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again, but already it was impossible to say which was which.

Anyone else imagining Twitter and Facebook?

No?

Bear with me on this one.

In its ongoing quest to be a lot less Twitter and a lot more Facebook, a plan that will probably end up with Twitter calling itself BookFace and upsetting the internet by ruining a VR firm, Twitter is considering renaming retweets as Shares.

Apparently the problem is that the concept of retweets is too difficult for some people to get their heads around - and what Twitter really needs right now is more of those people, the kind of folk who still point at planes.

You can see where this is heading. Twitter now has photo tagging and multiple photo uploads, and it's considering dumping the @ symbol in replies. Twitter has also been testing what looks awfully like a Facebook interface, so it's just a matter of time before your Twitter feed fills with baby photos and racism.

The inspiration runs both ways, of course. Facebook has yet to meet a good idea it didn't want to buy or copy. Soon we'll look from Facebook to Twitter, and from Twitter to Facebook, and it'll be impossible to say which is which.

Does this high-tech homogeneity matter? I think it does, to Twitter's detriment.
Bring on the botox

As social networks go, Twitter's learning curve is steeper than most: I'm sure many people checked it out, couldn't make head nor tail of the @this and the RT-that, and wandered off again.

But what Twitter's up to here isn't just about addressing the learning curve, it's about monetisation.

Twitter wants to get more users of the ad-clicky variety and it wants them to do more on the service so it can have more money.

The problem with that kind of strategy is that it dilutes the service's special sauce. For me, the big appeal of Twitter is its speed and simplicity, the lack of cruft and clutter, the sheer unFacebookness of it. The more Facebook-y it becomes, the less special it is.

This isn't new, of course, and it isn't just a tech thing. It's your favourite underground act moving up to stadiums, sacrificing the quirks and nuances and sharp edges that made you fall in love with them in the first place. It's your favourite down-to-earth actor moving to LA and becoming just another botoxed automaton. It's your favourite TV show jumping the shark.

It's what happens when you get big money and the big expectations that go with it.

It's understandable - investors don't just want success, they demand growth - but it's dangerous too. If you sacrifice your core audience and go chasing the mass market, then if that market moves elsewhere you have nothing to fall back on - and if all you have to offer the mass market is a me-too version of a bigger, more paranoid and richer rival, then you could all too easily find yourself outgunned, outspent and outnumbered.

Twitter is a wonderful thing. It'd be a shame to see it end up scrabbling for Facebook's table scraps.
