If you haven't heard of the OnePlus One yet, chances are you will soon: the intriguing smartphone has just been given an official UK and US launch date of April 23.
The One (not, not that One) is catching our eye for a number of reasons. First of all, it's priced under £290/$400 and for that you'll be getting a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM and LTE.
But it also ships with the Android-based CyanogenMod OS, a popular custom take on Google's operating system.
A challenger appears
OnePlus is a pretty new company so it's been pretty open about its plans, although it still hasn't revealed what the phone will actually look like.
Will it be circular? Will it be made of rubber? Will it have seven screens? The specific prices of the 16GB and the 64GB version are also yet to be announced.
Between the OnePlus One and the Jolla Phone, we're seeing some pretty interesting alternatives popping up to keep us (and the big dogs) on their toes.
